Hakiru is operated by Sven Goetz, Berlin, Germany. Your privacy matters — this policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do (and don't do) with it.

What We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

  • Account data — email address and username, managed by our authentication provider (Clerk).
  • Game data — chess games you play, move history, and game results, stored in our database.
  • Progress data — course progress, accuracy statistics, and ELO rating history.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not track you with analytics or advertising pixels.
  • We do not sell, share, or trade your data with third parties.
  • We do not use cookies beyond what is required for authentication.
  • We do not profile you or build advertising segments.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate Hakiru:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management. Clerk processes your email and login credentials. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel — hosting and infrastructure. Standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps) are processed as part of normal operation. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
  • Neon — database hosting for game and progress data. See Neon's Privacy Policy.
  • ElevenLabs — text-to-speech for voice coaching. Short text phrases (move feedback, lesson content) are sent to ElevenLabs for audio generation. No personal data is included. See ElevenLabs' Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic — AI-powered move analysis and explanations. Chess positions and moves are sent for analysis. No personal data is included. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage

Your data is stored on servers in the United States (Vercel, Neon) and processed by services that may operate globally. By using Hakiru, you consent to this transfer.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through your profile settings. This removes your account data, game history, and progress data. If you need help, contact us at Sven.k.goetz@gmail.com.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
